The story of the gold plate frame is an interesting one. I won’t go into all the details, but the owner of Competition Motors didn’t want his name on the cars he was selling (due to CA laws regarding vehicle importers).

The dealer manager had already ordered two-hundred silver plate frames, and for every one-hundred he ordered, he got five gold pairs. So in all, there were twenty gold plate frames. After that initial purchase, he was ordered to stop and destroy any that were in inventory.

Very rare and very hard to find.
